Poverty Solutions, Inc. provides assistance to participants in meeting their career, education and counseling goals through our GED-2-College Program and Divest Poverty workshops.
Poverty Solutions’ Educational service concentrates on: identification; classification; assessment; and attainment of those educational skills necessary for entry into the various career tracts. More importantly, Poverty Solutions conducts case management to insure that program participants are compatible with their career choices. We partner with the various school boards and colleges to prepare our clients for becoming more marketable and successful.
Our “Divest Poverty” workshops empower low-income families and individuals, veterans, youths, and minorities in Los Angeles County in particular and Southern California to take initiatives that could move them permanently out of poverty and into sustainable self-sufficiency. The program starts with workshops on Financial Literacy, Banking, Budgeting, Time and Resource Management, Consumer Fraud, Consumer Credit, Debt Management, Insurance, Education, Educational and Employment Opportunities, Opportunity Cost of Education, Professional Licenses and Certifications, Homeownership, Foreclosure Prevention, Career Planning, Savings and Investments, Job-training & Job-hunting, Entrepreneurship, Self-Employment and Writing Business Plans.
ROGRAM OVERVIEW: Our workshops serve as the entry point to our programs. Participants are invited to enroll into – education, employment/job-training, or entrepreneurship programs that best serve their needs. Those needing additional counseling are given appointments to meet with P-Solutions’ staff for a more comprehensive or one-on-one consultation, training, education, placement, mentoring, skill acquisition, and skill-enhancement. These programs increase self-sufficiency and workforce participation of low-income veterans, families and individuals, hard-to-employ populations, displaced-veterans, and non-custodial parents. Additionally, P-solutions entrepreneurship and self-employment programs provide seed capital to the graduates to start-up or purchase existing community-based businesses that employ program participants. Attending the workshops help prepare participants to: (1) (re)enter the workforce, obtain gainful and stable employment and retain jobs gained on a long-term basis; (2) become familiar with benefits of budgeting, planning and debt management; (3) learn the benefits of education, licenses and certifications; (4) understand homeownership, foreclosure prevention and retirement plans; (5) learn how to utilize P-Solutions GED-2-College program to acquire needed education and secure well-paying jobs; (6) learn how to Write Resumes, Job-Search, Prepare for Job Interviews and Interview for Jobs; (7) be exposed to Entrepreneurship, Self-employment, and Business Management Skills; and (8) acquire necessary basic training skills needed to become successful citizens.
